AVON ON TOUR / THE ALABAMA SOLUTION / MARCH 13

2025

 Run Time: 114 | Rating: R | Language: English

This screening will be held at Ferguson Library (1 Public Library Plaza, Stamford, CT).

Q&A with producer Alex Duran. Nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film at the 2026 Academy Awards.

Inside one of the nation's deadliest prison systems, incarcerated men defy the odds to expose a cover-up.

This program is presented by The First Bank of Greenwich and sponsored by the Connecticut Office of the Arts, Stamford Arts & Culture Commission, and Wireless Zone Gives. Additional support is provided by The Bruce Museum, Darien Library, Ferguson Library, Harbor Point, and Stamford Town Center.

Alelur “Alex” Duran is Program Director at Galaxy Gives, a foundation that supports advocates, artists, and storytellers who challenge the narratives that sustain mass incarceration.

A graduate of the Bard College Prison Initiative, Alex has made it a core part of his work to disrupt the narrow and dehumanizing ways incarcerated people are spoken about. While inside, he was a member of the Bard Debate Union. Now a resident of Stamford, Connecticut, Alex also serves on the board of Freedom Reads, which brings beautifully designed libraries into prisons nationwide. Born in Harlem and raised in the Bronx, he draws on his own experience, including 12 years in prison, to amplify voices too often ignored and to insist on the creative power and possibility of people coming home.
