Special Post-Film Q&A with Charles Moore, Director of Programs and Operations for Rehabilitation Through The Arts, and RTA Alumnus L.A. Ramsay Jr.
Divine G (Colman Domingo), imprisoned at Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose by acting in a theatre group with other incarcerated men. When a wary outsider joins the group, the men decide to stage their first original comedy in this stirring true story of resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art, starring an unforgettable ensemble cast of formerly incarcerated actors.
About Rehabilitation Through the Arts (RTA): Founded at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in 1996, RTA is a world leader in arts-in-prison programming. RTA teaches communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and other critical life skills through a unique mix of art forms. Reimagining Myself®, a reentry program, is our newest initiative that prepares incarcerated people approaching release for the social and emotional challenges they will likely face when transitioning back to their communities. RTA’s ongoing success is dramatic: less than 3% of RTA members return to prison within three years of release, compared to the national recidivism rate of over 60%.
Charles Moore: Charles Moore is the first full-time alumnus to be hired by RTA. He is now the Director of Programs & Operations for the organization. Charles holds a bachelor’s degree in Human Services from Mercy College and a Master's in Professional Studies from New York Theological Seminary. He has been involved in RTA since 2004 as a frequent production manager and occasional actor and is often the Master of Ceremony for many of RTA’s events.
L.A. Ramsay Jr.: L.A. Ramsay Jr. is an aspiring author and stage actor who brings a dynamic blend of creativity and passion to the world of storytelling. A college graduate and poet, Ramsay infuses his writing and performances with depth, emotion, and a unique perspective, capturing audiences through both the written word and the stage.
