This event is in celebration of America's 250th anniversary. The Avon Theatre is an affiliate of the America 250 | Connecticut Commission.

Following the screening, Dr. Sheila Kearney will share the remarkable story of her aunt, Major Mary Frances Kearney, who served as Chief of Mail and Commanding Officer of Company A in the Six Triple Eight. Despite her pivotal role, Major Kearney’s contributions were not featured in the film, and Dr. Kearney’s discussion will shed light on her aunt’s leadership, service, and enduring legacy.

Eight hundred and fifty-five join the war effort to address a three-year mail backlog. Despite discrimination and war-torn conditions, they sort over seventeen million pieces of mail ahead of schedule.
